2024 Roots Crew
2024 Roots Crew

I was rushing and running late, as I am quite prone to do, last Friday morning. I had just unloaded our last Bouquet Club buckets of the season at Simply Yoga, when the first of our club members were arriving to choose their bouquets. I was feeling a bit frazzled.  And the sweetest thing happened. Club member after club member thanked me in person for offering the club. The second person was "mad at herself for not being first in line" because she likes to get to choose her bouquet first - if you know my wicked sense of humor, you know how much I loved hearing that people are competitively shopping for my flowers! It was like you each were giving me a hug!

Bouquet Club gets the best flowers each month. Almost always, I personally make all these bouquets, ensuring they are big enough, generous enough, special enough for our clubbers. It's kind of weird that CSAs have been around a long time and our little farm is just getting started in offering them. Club, paired with local bakery partners, has been our solution to no longer attending weekly farmers' market. At the time, it was a really tough choice to leave my beloved stand at Farmers on the Square, but we've never looked back.

For the 2025 season, we've got a lovely lineup of club sessions (which just went live today!). I appreciate the feedback of club members who want the brightest mix possible, love their pickup locations, and overwhelmingly look forward to their bouquets each week or month. Our wildly generous partner hosts have agreed to host again - be sure to thank them when you pick up your bouquets.

Meanwhile on the farm, my whole crew has already committed to working next season, which literally brought me to tears. I sure do love this eclectic gang of committed, supportive, kind and hard-working humans - and they love each other, making our work days very sweet. We are building another high tunnel, planting 30,000 tulips, putting all the fields to bed, maintaining equipment and getting the whole place ready for our next season....holidays! I have also snuck in a weekend away in the woods with my family, visited my bestie flower farmer in Maryland, attended a cut flower conference in North Carolina, and spent a lot of time in the office making many notes to make my crop plan better. By the time I write again, Erin will have the holiday web shop live and you will be dreaming of greens and berries.

Until next time, when my hands are covered in pine sap,

Michelle
